Many families who are considering investing in a recreation vehicle (RV), test the waters, as it were, by renting an RV before buying. And if they enjoy the experience, they need to determine what RV best meets their needs in terms of size, price and type.
The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) has put together a resource to help you explore your options. In the motorized category, RVIA uses the term "type," while the common term by consumers and dealers is "class," such as Class A, Class C, etc.
So what is an RV?
A motorized or towable vehicle that combines transportation and temporary living quarters for travel, recreation and camping. RVs do not include mobile homes, off-road vehicles, snowmobiles or conversion vehicles. RVs are sold by recreation vehicle dealers.
